Sterling's home life from birth until the age of six is quiet and full of enriching experiences like private language tutoring, golf, vacations to far off regions and being on movie sets with her father. She is pampered, with her own personal full time butler who attends to her every need. Sadly, he cannot attend school with her, a total culture shock! While at school, Sterling struggles to make friends as she is "different" from her classmates in that she is excessively rich and has been taught proper manners. During lunches, she refuses to eat as her school lunch is mass made and nothing like she's ever experienced- and is therefore disgusted by it. On the playground, Sterling, seeing the puddles of mud and wet slides, further distances herself from her peers by choosing to stay seated with her teacher. When the first day ends and she sees her butler Elbert, she flings herself into his arms and begs for him to spirit her away and never return.
That night, at supper, upon learning that she would have to return every day until she either went on her journey, or graduated, the Fonz estate was filled with wails and declarations of suffocation. Eventually, by the end of the night she had cried herself to sleep and woken with a massive headache. As the year progresses, and Sterling is unwaveringly stubborn on her stance, she is relentlessly teased on everything from her hair to her clothes. Eventually, by the end of the first week Sterling stops her efforts to make friends and keeps to herself for the whole year.
While modeling for a clothing brand, Sterling is introduced to the romantic world of the 1950's. Instantly she is enthralled by actresses like Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and more. Weeks spent imitating them led to a rebirth of Sterling's waning confidence and awakened a new side of her. Returning to school later that year, Sterling's new persona not only turns heads but further alienates her from her peers. Sterling however, isn't worried, as she knows that soon she will find "her people."
Over the years Sterling does make friends, but none that really get her. This all changes one day when, after weeks of her parents fighting and frustrating school work, Sterling skips out on the rest of school and meets Annabelle Griffith. The two bond over their troubled homelife, and not feeling understood. (Anna also doesn't mention Sterling's size, which she is grateful for.) Sterling begins to skip school the rest of the week until the administrators call Burgundy and she's grounded for two weeks.
After her freedom is returned to her, the two begin hanging out more and more often after Sterling gets out of school. They become as close as sisters and Anna begins to spend more and more time at the Fonz estate as she gets to experience many things she doesn't have at home. The two frequent malls, skate parks and other.. sketchy locations together. While not out with Anna, Sterling usually can be found either at home or riding around the city with Tommen.
Sterling is very soft, and is not used to any heavy work around the house, as she has maids and other workers who tend to her family's needs so she is not very strong either. At most she could probably only lift about twenty or so pounds before complaining.
Very early in her life, with her father being a famous director, Sterling grew up immersed in the bright lights, and would would often romanticize her life. She became captivated by the older scene of Kanto's star-studded Hollywood. From Cleopatra to A Streetcar named Desire and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes to name a few, Sterling developed a taste for vintage clothing. Sterling owns an excess of vintage clothes and will absolutely suffer for fashion, below is just a few of her many favorite outfits.
